EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (CONTROL OF INFECTIOUS ANIMAL DISEASES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2002

I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 ( No. 27 of 1972 ) and for the purposes of giving effect to Council Directive No. 2000/75/EC of 20 November 2000 laying down specific provisions for the control and eradication of Bluetongue, hereby make the following Regulations:

1.         These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Regulations, 2002.

2.         The European Communities (Control of Infectious Animal Diseases) Regulations, 1994 ( No. 317 of 1994 ) are amended by the substitution, in Article 2(1), for the definition of “the Council Directives”, of --

“the Council Directives” means Council Directive No. 92/35 EEC of 29 April, 1992, Council Directive No. 92/119/EEC of 17 December, 1992 and Council Directive 2000/75 of 20 November 2000;'.

This Order provides for specific rules for the control and eradication of Bluetongue and transposes Council Directive 2000/75/EC of 20^th November, 2000.
