Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Classical Swine Fever) (Restriction on Imports from Spain) (No. 2) Order 2001 (Third Amendment) Order 2002

I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of No. 6 of 1966 ) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Decision 2001/925/EC of 20 December 20011 as amended by Commission Decision 2002/31/EC of 14 January 20022 , Commission Decision 2002/162/EC of 22 February 20023 , Commission Decision 2002/243/EC of 25 March 20024 and Commission Decision 2002/313/EC of 26 April 20025 , hereby order as follows:-

1.   This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Classical Swine Fever) (Restriction on Imports from Spain) (No.2) Order 2001 (Third Amendment) Order 2002.

2.    The Diseases of Animals Act 1966 (Classical Swine Fever) (Restriction on Imports from Spain) (No.2) Order 2001 ( S.I. No. 358 of 2001 ) is amended by the substitution for the definition of --

(a)     “Commission Decision” (inserted by Article 2(a) of the Diseases of Animals Act 1966 (Classical Swine Fever) (Restriction on Imports from Spain) (No.2) Order 2001 (Second Amendment) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 13 of 2002 )), of -

“’Commission Decision’ means Commission Decision 2001/925/EC of 20 December 20011 as amended by Commission Decision 2002/31/EC of 14 January 20022 ,

Commission Decision 2002/162/EC of 22 February 20023 ,

Commission Decision 2002/243/EC of 25 March 20024 and

Commission Decision 2002/313/EC of 26 April 20025 ;”

and

(b)     “restricted area” (inserted by Article 2 of the Diseases of Animals Act 1966 (Classical Swine Fever) (Restriction on Imports from Spain) (No.2) Order 2001 (Amendment) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 5 of 2002 )), of-

“’restricted area’ means the province of Barcelona and the comarcas of Rippolles, Garrotxa and Selva in the province of Gerona, all in the autonomous region of Cataluna.”.

This Order amends restrictions on certain imports from designated areas of Spain due to the presence of Classical Swine Fever in that country.
