Airport (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 2002

Aer Rianta cpt, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Sections 16 and 17 (as amended by the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1988 (No. 15 of 1988) ), of No. 4 of 1950 ) and of Section 42 of the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act, 1998 No. 24 of 1998 ), hereby makes the following Bye-Laws:

CITATION

1    These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Airport (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 2002. These Bye-Laws together with the Airport Bye-Laws, 1994 and the Airport (Amendment) Bye-Laws 1999 shall, subject to the provisions hereof, be construed together as one and may be cited together as the Airport Bye-Laws 1994 to 2002.

APPLICATION

2    These Bye-Laws shall apply to the State Airports known as Cork Airport, Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport.

AMENDMENT

3    There is hereby inserted at the end of Bye-Law 13 of the Airport Bye-Laws of 1994 ( S.I. No 425 of 1994 ) a new paragraph as follows:

13 (11) In order to facilitate the enhancement of passenger check-in services and security at the State Airports all providers of passenger flight services shall strictly observe the following check-in desk requirements (save where otherwise authorised by Aer Rianta) with regard to all flights (scheduled and charter).

All Destinations:

All required check-in desks to open no later than two hours before scheduled departure time of flight

Flights carrying 1 - 50 persons:

A minimum of 1 check-in desk to be operational

Flights carrying 51 -200 persons:

A minimum of 2 check-in desks to be operational

Flights carrying over 201 persons:

A minimum of 3 check-in desks to be operational”

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purpose to be a legal interpretation.)

These Bye-Laws insert a new paragraph (11) into Bye-Law 13 of the Airport Bye-Laws, 1994, requiring providers of departing passenger flights at Cork Airport, Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport to observe minimum requirements in relation to check-in facilities.
