I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4 of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Act 1998 ( No. 43 of 1998 ) and after consultation with the Minister for the Environment and Local Government and the Minister for Transport, hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Act 1998 (Appointment of Competent Authorities)(Amendment) Order 2002. 2. Article 4(a) of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Act 1998 (Appointment of Competent Authorities) Order 2001 ( S.I. No. 493 of 2001 ) is amended by substituting “Minister for Transport” for “Minister for the Environment and Local Government”. |

The purpose of this Order is to amend Article 4 of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Act, 1998 (Appointment of Competent Authorities) Order, 2001 by substituting ‘Minister for Transport’ for ‘Minister for the Environment and Local Government’. |

Following the transfer of responsibility for road traffic legislation, including roadworthiness testing of vehicles, from the Department of the Environment and Local Government to the Department of Transport, the functions conferred on the Minister for the Environment and Local Government are now vested in the Minister for Transport. |
