1.   (1)  These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Products of Plant Origin, including Fruit and Vegetables) (Amendment) Regulations, 2002.

(2)    These Regulations shall come into operation in respect of Lindane, Quintozene and Permethrin on 1 December 2002, in respect of ethion in tea on 31 December 2002, in respect of Bentazone, Pyridate and Metsulfuron-methyl, Oxydemeton-methyl, Dimethoate and Formothion on 1 January 2003, in respect of Parathion on 1 May 2003 and in respect of abamectin, azocyclotin and cyhexatin, bifenthrin, bitertanol, bromopropylate, clofentezine, cyromazine, fenpropimorph, flucytrinate, hexaconazole, methacrifos, myclobutanil, pencanzole, prochloraz, profenofos, Resmethrin, Tridemorph, and triadimefon and triadimenol on 1 August 2003.

2.         First Schedule, Part 2, Annex II of the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Products of Plant Origin, including Fruit and Vegetables) Regulations, 1999 ( S.I. No. 179 of 1999 ) is replaced by Schedule one to these Regulations.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These Regulations amend existing regulations on the maximum residue levels for pesticide residues in and on products of plant origin, including fruit and vegetables.
