Finance Act 2003 (Commencement of certain provisions of Chapter 2 of Part 2) Order 2003.

I, Charlie McCreevy, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 107, 108, 109 and 110 of the Finance Act 2003 ( No.3 of 2003 ), hereby order as follows:

1.    This order may be cited as the Finance Act 2003 (Commencement of certain provisions of Chapter 2 of Part 2) Order 2003.

2.    The 1^st day of June 2003 is appointed as the day on which sections 107, 108, 109, and 110 of the Finance Act 2003 ( No.3 of 2003 ) come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order appoints the 1^st day of June 2003 as the date for coming into operation of sections 107, 108, 109 and 110 of the Finance Act 2003 .

As a consequence:

1.   The number of types of gaming licences is reduced from 4 to 2.

2.   The rate of excise duty on a 3 monthly gaming licence is increased to €175.

3.   The number of types of gaming machine licences is reduced from 8 to 2.

4.   The rate of excise duty on 3 monthly gaming machine licences is increased to €145.

5.   The number of types of amusement machine licences is reduced from 3 to 2.
