OIFIG AN ARD-CHLÁRAITHEORA (HOURS OF BUSINESS) REGULATIONS, 2003. |

The Minister of Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 of the Vital Statistics and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1952 ( No. 8 of 1952 ) hereby makes the following Regulations:-- 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Oifig An Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) Regulations, 2003. 2. In these Regulations “public holiday” means-- |

( a ) any day which is a public holiday for the purposes of the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1973 ( no. 25 of 1973 ), |
||||||||
|
( b) if the 1st day of January falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday, |
||||||||
|
( c ) if St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday, |
||||||||
|
(d)) Good Friday. 3. Every person shall be entitled to make the searches of the indexes of the registers referred to in section 70 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844, section 50 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 and section 17 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863 during the period from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays with the following exceptions-- |

(i) any day which is a public holiday, in which case the Office will be closed, and |
||||||||
|
(ii) the 24th day of December, or, where such day falls on a Saturday or a Sunday the preceding Friday, when a person will be entitled to make the said searches during the period from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon. 4. The Oifig An Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) Regulations, 1985 (S.I. No. 411 of 1985 ) as amended by the Oifig An Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) (No.2) Regulations, 1986 (S.I. No. 396 of 1986 are hereby revoked. 5. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 24th day of November 2003. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||||||||
|
These Regulations specify the days and times that Oifig An Ard-Chláraitheora will in future be open to the public for the purpose of making searches of the indexes. |
