EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (AMENDMENT OF S.I. NO. 68 of 2003 ) REGULATIONS, 2004.

I, MARY HARNEY, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 ( No. 27 of 1972 ), and for the purpose of giving effect to certain provisions of Directive No. 2000/31/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 20001 , hereby make the following regulations:

Citation and commencement.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Amendment of S.I. No. 68 of 2003 ) Regulations 2004.

Amendment of Regulation 21

2. Regulation 21 of the European Communities (Directive 2000/31/EC) Regulations 2003 is amended by substituting for paragraph (2) the following:

“(2) The Director may appoint one or more persons to be an authorised officer or authorised officers for the purpose of this Regulation.”

The purpose of these Regulations is to clarify who the Director of Consumer Affairs may authorise for the purposes of Regulation 21.
