TRANSPORT, ENGLAND

The Transport Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4)Order 2001

  Made 30th January 2001 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 275(1) and (2) of the Transport Act 2000[1] hereby makes the following Order: - 

Citation and interpretation
     1. This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2001.

Provisions coming into force in England
     2. Section 161 of the Transport Act 2000, in so far as it relates to the words "operated a local service in contravention of that section" in section 111(1)(b) of the Transport Act 1985 as substituted by paragraph 22(2) of Schedule 11, shall come into force on 20th February 2001 as respects England.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force as respects England most of the new section 111(1)(b) of the Transport Act 1985 substituted by paragraph 22 of Schedule 11 to the Transport Act 2000. That enactment empowers a traffic commissioner to make a determination, for the purposes of section 111 of the 1985 Act, that the operation of a local service has operated a service in contravention of a registration under section 6 of that Act.
