The Isles of Scilly (Health) Order 2001

  Made 17th February 2001 
  Laid before Parliament 20th February 2001 
  Coming into force 14th March 2001 

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 68(5) of the Health Act 1999[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order may be cited as the Isles of Scilly (Health) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 14th March 2001.

Application of the Health Act 1999 to the Isles of Scilly
    
2. Part I and Part III of the Health Act 1999 shall apply to the Isles of Scilly with the modification that, in the application of those provisions to those Isles, any reference to a local authority is to be construed as a reference to the Council of the Isles of Scilly[2].

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order extends, with an appropriate modification of the references to a local authority, Parts I and III of the Health Act 1999 to the Isles of Scilly as from 14th March 2001. Parts I and III of the Act apply to England and Wales; Part II of the Act applies to Scotland only. Part I of the Act makes provision in relation to the National Health Service in England and Wales, including provision for partnership between NHS bodies and local authorities, and the control of prices of medicines supplied to the National Health Service in the United Kingdom and the profits accruing from such supply. Part III of the Act contains miscellaneous and supplementary provisions, including provisions relating to the regulation of the health care and associated professions.
