The Local Authorities (Armorial Bearings) Order 2001

  Made 11th April 2001 
  Coming into force 12th April 2001 

At the Court at Windsor Castle, the 11th day of April 2001

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 247 of the Local Government Act 1972[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Armorial Bearings) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 12th April 2001.

     2. The armorial bearings which, immediately before 1st April 1974, were lawfully borne and used by the council named in column (1) of the following Table may be borne and used by the corresponding council named in column (2) of the Table, provided they have first been exemplified according to the laws of arms and recorded in the College of Arms -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order authorises Pickering Town Council and Sudbury Town Council to bear and use the armorial bearings formerly borne and used by the Pickering Urban District Council and the corporation of the Borough of Sudbury respectively.
