EDUCATION, ENGLAND

The Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (Amendment No. 3) (England) Regulations 2001

  Made 30th April 2001 
  Laid before Parliament 2nd May 2001 
  Coming into force 25th May 2001 

In excercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 19 and 42(6) and (7) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Regulations.

     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (Amendment No. 3) (England) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 25th May 2001.

    
2. The Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (England) Regulations 1999[2] shall be amended as follows.

     3. For regulation 5 there shall be substituted the following regulation - 

     4. In paragraph 3(1)(c) of Schedule 2 for "if any" there shall be substituted "if employed in a teaching capacity".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations further amend the Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers (England) Regulations 1999 (S.I. 1999/1065).

The definition of "appeal body" in regulation 5 of those regulations is amended so that, where an appeal is made against a decision of the appropriate body and the induction period of the person making the appeal ended on or after 1st July 2001, the appeal body is the General Teaching Council for England (regulation 3).

A minor amendment is made to paragraph 3 of Schedule 2 to the regulations (regulation 4).
