The Ministerial and other Salaries Order 2001

  Made 31st October 2001 
  Coming into force 1st November 2001 

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 31st day of October 2001

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

     Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1B(1) and (3)(b) of the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: - 

Citation and commencement
     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as the Ministerial and other Salaries Order 2001.

    (2) This Order shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Increase of Ministerial salaries in the House of Lords
    
2. For the annual amount, or the maximum and minimum annual amounts, of salary specified in Parts 1 to 4 of Schedule 1 to the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975 ("the 1975 Act") in relation to each office specified in the first column of Schedule 1 to this Order there is substituted, in the case of a holder of the office who is a member of the House of Lords - 

Increase of salaries of Opposition Leaders and Whips in the House of Lords
    
3. For the annual amount of salary specified in Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the 1975 Act in relation to each of the positions specified in the first column of Schedule 2 to this Order there is substituted - 

Interpretation: the interim period
    
4. In this Order "the interim period" means the period starting with 20th June 2001 and ending with 31st March 2002.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order increases salaries payable under the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975, as amended, to certain Ministers and Members of the Opposition in the House of Lords. The amounts specified in this Order are the maximum salaries payable. The actual salaries may therefore be less.
