PUBLIC PASSENGER TRANSPORT

The Road Transport (International Passenger Services) (Amendment) Regulations 2004

  Made 14th July2004 
  Laid before Parliament 6th August 2004 
  Coming into force 30th August 2004 

The Secretary of State for Transport, being a Minister designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] in relation to the international carriage of passengers by road, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section and, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 56(1) of the Finance Act 1973[3], hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Transport (International Passenger Services) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on 30th August 2004.

Amendments
    
2.  - (1) The Road Transport (International Passenger Services) Regulations 1984[4] are amended as follows.

    (2) In regulation 2(1)(g) substitute "Secretary of State for Transport" for "Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions".

    (3) In regulation 14(2A) substitute "£11" for "£10".

    (4) In regulation 14(3) substitute "£160" for "£140".

    (5) In regulation 14(3A) substitute "£163" for "£144.20".

    (6) In regulation 14(4) substitute "£34" for "£30".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations increase some of the fees that are payable under the Road Transport (International Passenger Transport Services) Regulations 1984 ("the principal Regulations"). These Regulations also change the definition of "Secretary of State" in regulation 2(1)(g) of the principal Regulations to the Secretary of State for Transport.

The changes are as follows:

Certified copy of a regular service authorisation, special regular service authorisation, shuttle service authorisation or authorisation under regulation 14(2) of the principal Regulations £10 £11
Application for a special regular service authorisation or an international passenger transport authorisation £140 £160
Application for a regular service authorisation or shuttle service authorisation £144.20 £163
Regular or special regular authorisation - fee per year of validity of the authorisation £30 £34
