LOCAL GOVERNMENT, WALES

The Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Wales) Regulations 2000

  Made 8th February 2000 
  Coming into force 9th February 2000 

The National Assembly for Wales makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 76(4) and 140(4) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988[1], which are now vested in it so far as exercisable in Wales[2].

Citation, commencement and application
     1.  - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Wales) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 9th February 2000.

    (2) These Regulations apply only to Wales.

Revocation
    
2. In relation to any financial year beginning on or after 1st April 2000, the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations 1992[3], the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Amendment) 1993[4], the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 1995[5] the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 1998[6] are hereby revoked.

Specified Bodies
     3. The following bodies are specified for the purposes of section 76(4) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988, namely:-

    (a) The Fire Services Examinations Board;

    (b) The National Institute for Adult Continuing Education;

    (c) The Local Government International Bureau;

    (d) The Local Authorities Co-ordinating Body on Food and Trading Standards;

    (e) Public Private Partnerships Programme Limited;

    (f) Syniad;

    (g) Improvement and Development Agency for Local Government;

    (h) Employers' Organisation for Local Government; and

    (i) National Foundation for Educational Research.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


Sections 78 and 79 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 provide for revenue support grant to be payable to any body which provides services for local authorities and which is specified by the Secretary of State in regulations. These powers are now vested in the National Assembly for Wales in relation to Wales.

These Regulations specify bodies for this purpose. The previous Regulations are revoked and replaced by these Regulations in relation to financial years beginning on or after 1st April 2000. Syniad (the Welsh Improvement, Development and Employers' Agency), becomes a specified body for the purposes of section 78.
