The Health Research Board (Establishment) (Amendment) (No.1) Order, 2002

The Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 (5) of the Health (Corporate Bodies) Act, 1961 (No.27 of 1961) as adapted by the Health (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( SI No. 308 of 1997 ) hereby amends the HRB (Establishment) Order 1986 ( No. 279 of 1986 ) as follows:

1.   This Order may be cited as the Health Research Board (Establishment) (Amendment) (No.1) Order, 2002.

2.   Article 6 of the Health Research Board (Establishment) Order 1986 ( No.279 of 1986 ) is hereby amended by the insertion of the following after Article 6 (4):

“(5) Notwithstanding the provisions of Article 6(4), the term of office of the members of the Health Research Board holding office on the 27^th day of March, 2002 shall be extended to the 3^rd day of May, 2002. The Minister may, in consultation with the Chairman of the Board, further extend the term of office of this Board beyond the 3rd day of May, 2002, to a date he considers appropriate”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to extend the term of office of the members of the Health Research Board holding office on 27^th March 2002 until 3^rd May 2002 and provides that the Minister may, in consultation with the Chairman, further extend the term of office of that Board beyond that date.
